Lesson Resources

Classroom and Course Expectations

Learning Target:
I understand what we will be learning in social studies this year and what the behavior expectations are.

Language Target:
I will do this by reading information about our class, listening to teacher explanations and by writing in some pre-assessments.

Use the linked image to open our Google classroom. In the "Week 1" section you will find our class syllabus. The syllabus will be a Google Doc. There will also be paper copies available in the classroom.

Pre-Assessments

Learning Target:
I will show what I know about geography, and how I read a non-fiction text.

Language Target:
I will do this by reading test questions and an assigned article, and by writing or choosing answers to questions in the pre-assessments.

You will take a pre-assessment in geographic regions, basic geography terms and a little bit of world history. You will also create a personal map of your home as a pre-assessment in map skills, and combine this with a timeline of your life. These items will also be found in our Google classroom.

Map Pre-Assessment
In the Google classroom there will also be a Pear Deck that will have prompts for you to create a map of where you live. The Pear Deck will let you know what features your map should contain.
